I would let it go, unless the orchid is really clumped in the pot, this is normal for orchids.

Don't worry this is very normal for an orchid to do .
just repot in a bigger pot with new orchid bark mix soil (after flowering).
this web site below will show you anything you need to know.

Any good florist (and especially the florist you are getting the orchids from) should be able to answer this question.

This is normal for an orchid. Many species of orchid has air roots and they actually will need all this air roots to thrive well.
If you plan to separate that section of your plant.. wait until the roots are well grown on them, so that when the section is cut off from the mother plant, those roots are extensive enough to support the new plant.
It is sometime a good idea to re-plant your orchid.... very often, you will encourage new growth and sometime flowering beside doubling your collection.
Also do make sure that your cutting equipment are clean and sterilised and the open cut are treated with some kind of fungicide after the cut.
Happy orchid planting

It depends on the size of the orchids, how long you want the leis and whether you will be using only orchids or adding "filler" flowers.
You could try making one out of artifical flowers to see.
Good Luck!!

If the stem is still green and not drying out and turning yellow,
don't cut it off. Keep the bark moist (I usually put mine under
a soft spray of lukewarm water for a couple of minutes)
Give them a bit of orchid food every couple of weeks, if the plant is healthy they sometimes start to develop buds
on the green stems (I had a couple that re bloomed that way)
If the stem does die back , keep maintaining the plant,
they will produce some new leaves and if they are happy, they
will bloom again.
